BBQ Adventure: Chicken in white sauce on KK

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Well I finally found some time to cook on the BBQ. Decided to cook a couple of chooks. They’re easy and if I cook two it usually means leftovers so more effcicient (and delicious). The recipe I chose was an Alabama style chicken in a white sauce (yeah, I’ll post the recipe on the forum!). Strangely enough the sauce has vinegar (and mayonaise etc.) but it actually seems to “work”; it tastes great with the smokey flavour of the chicken. Read More→

Stoker vs Guru – Which one to use

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

I discovered something interesting (or it may just say something about me) about my guru/stoker usage. Depending on the length of the cook and perhaps the “complexity” I tend to either use my guru for some and my stoker for other cooks. So what am I trying to say here? Read More→

BBQ Adventure: Roast Sirloin Beef (using roasty bag)

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

We had a friend over for dinner tonight and cooked up some roast sirloin beef. The rub we got from taste.com.au but I modified the recipe slightly to accomodate cooking with a roasty bag. I have blogged about the BBQ liners and now also have a roasty bag. Both products I fully like/use (and actually endorse (yeah yeah my word is worth a lot ). Read More→

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Well we had some friends over on Friday (read 8 of them; well actually 7 since one of them fell sick at the last moment). We had some butterflied lamb on the Komodo Kamado.
I used butcher B2 (well my wife did) and once again their service was great. She asked for their biggest leg of lamb and to butterfly it, which they obviously did. Read More→

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Well I made contact with Rock’s BBQ today (phone call) and placed my order. My emails didn’t work out as well but the telephone worked just fine. Now I have to wait for 6-10 days for the parcel to get to Australia…. I ordered a basic stoker + a komodo adaptor + a 10cfm blower; this should work nicely on my KK. Read More→

Just a quick update on my postage enquiry with Rock’s Bar-B-Que….
Aargh no answer yet; what with the internet and emails going across the globe almost instantaneous I guess we get used to quick replies as well. I also read the purchase and policies page on their website that stated “Rock’s Bar-B-Que currently offers products within the United States”. Read More→

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Since I’m notoriously lazy around my BBQ one of the items I have on my wish-list is a remote thermometer. Being able to sit in front of the TV watching a game without having to get up to check the BBQ sounds like heaven to me. I have been looking at remote thermometers for a while now…
