Over the last few years I gave come across a number of useful forums with regards to BBQ-ing.
Granted I am more active on some them than on other but the ones that I frequent I find very useful. I reckon the best part of being on these forums is the sharing/learning .. and on any of these forums “newby” questions are encouraged, we all started at some time and we can all still learn! If I have learned one thing on these forums it’s to be generous with you comments (this applies to blogs also…hint hint).
Anyway you’ll find that if you are a frequent contributor some forums have their own “special” sections that you can get into by invitation only; makes you feel all warm and special (all kidding aside this does mean that your efforts in replying and helping/commenting your fellow forum members posts are really appreciated). Some forums have flame wars and all sort of nasties going on, luckily you won’t find to much of that on the BBQ forums (we must be nice people) and the tone is generally friendly.
Anyway the BBQ forums you’ll find me on are listed below (in no particular order), visit them and have fun!
Ceramic BBQ-ing : http://www.komodokamado.com/forum
Great site with lots of useful hints/tips/sales on the Komodo Kamado (biggest baddest Kamado currently on the market). If you are into ceramic cooking this site is a must (also for Kamado owners as their “own” site is kinda dying). The boys and girls are very helpful and knowledgeable on cooking on a KK. Fair amount of interesting recipes and a lot of toys/gadgets mentioned.
Alround BBQ-ing: http://www.texasbbqforum.com/
This is an interesting very friendly “How y’all doing” BBQ site. A nice selection of BBQ topics and some different recipes. A lot of the locals have serious smokers nothing like I have ever seen. If you’re looking for Low and Slow this is the place to be! They have frequent BBQ Throw Downs which are basically just BBQ contests whereby you send in your photo of what you BBQ-ed (different categories of BBQ-ed food) and everyone else votes (they do not know who submitted the photo’s so it’s all very fair)…and there are some small prizes. It’s great fun to enter and it’s all in good spirits.
WSM usage: http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/
Another great site that I still frequent especially their “cooking topics” i.e. recipe section kicks ass. I have tried a lot of their recipes and they work!! If you own a WSM or are thinking about getting one this the place to go! This site gave me the idea of the guru and their modification sections (on how-to “improve” your WSM) is great. Again a large number of WSM enthusiast that really welcome newcomers and ‘ol hands alike.
Aussie BBQ forum: http://www.aussiebbq.info/forum
Just my attempt at starting an Australian forum, very small at the moment but it’s only new so the more the merrier. I reckon that there are enough of us around to make it a bit more lively?
Anyway that’s my list of forums I frequent; I’m constantly on the lookout for others but reckon that these give me a very good selection of what’s out there…
