pork injection

Have made a few pork butts in my offset smoker before.

but find the middle does not have any flavour at all so was looking to inject with something

was going to use chris lillys recipe.

but what has more worried reading on a usa forum that if you inject the meat you need to get it to a certain temp in 4 hours or its not sanitary?

I've injected my butts plenty of times and paid no attention to getting it to temp quickly and have had great results every time.
I usually use apple juice, cider, whatever is in the fridge. It does give it extra flavour.
