Matador Boss - opinions, alternatives please?

Post by ogre »

I am looking for a gas hooded BBQ with 2/3 plate and 1/3 griddle.

The best deal I have found to date is:

I like its fat drainage system. Any opinions or alternatives please?

Thanks in advance

HI Mate

I've had two mates with Matadors and both have beeb unhappy with Build quality.

Have you considered Beefeater? I use one and they are mid-priced and mines good quality.

All gas BBQs work otherwise he hey wouldn't be sold. The cheapest price usually means the cheapest quality, however the dearest doesn't mean the best quality. I am a Weber Addict through and through, but that is my personal preference, I have my reasons which may or not be shared by others. I do not use a solid plate on my Weber Gas BBQs. I use a Teflon grill mat which works a treat.
I understand your dilemma trying to get bang for your buck. I think that the Family Weber Q would suit you down to the ground, however the Matador will work if the $$ are not there. The most important thing that I recommend is that whatever you buy practice on it and learn what you can do and the best methods you can use to achieve the results that you want. BBQing today has changed so much, it is no longer just burning a snag or a chop as you can see from the photos in this forum.
Enjoy whatever you buy, the more you use it the better it will be.
