Q320-3200 Flat Top Cooking Recommendations

Post by YankQ »

I got the flat top for my 3200. Neither the flat top nor the grill's owner's manual has any guidance on setting the burners for the flat top. I'm guessing for bacon and eggs I want to go roughly in the middle? Any guidance would be appreciated. Postman got it here just after I had finished breakfast this morning, so tomorrow is the first attempt at outdoor breakfast.

Sounds about right, as long as you get that 'sizzle' when the bacon goes on, all is good. :D and keep the lid shut

Jeff, pop a slice of bread on first, that'll tell you how hot she's running.

Thanks, guys. Gave it 5 minutes on full blast, then backed it down to dead center. Bacon cooked perfectly, neither too fast nor too slow. In my mind there is no better egg than one cooked in bacon renderings, and contrary to what most gourmands prefer, I like mine over medium with little bits of crispiness on the white.

Something else i like doing too and it's in the Weber Q book here in Australia is that you slice some rings about half inch thick from different coloured capsicums (bell peppers) and fry them on the hotplate for a few minutes to soften and slightly char then use them as egg rings which become edible.with the egg...much nicer than using metal egg rings.....but most the time i just let the egg white spread out.

Love the redhead :)

I'm now a true convert.....I've been sorta thinking about one of those hotplates that replace one of the grill grates on my Q320 and had uptil now resisted the temptation in buying one but 2 weekends ago, I decided to bite the bullet and get one and I'm sold....I really didn't think that they'd get hot enough but how wrong I was.....these things sizzle better than the big Masport 6 Burner I had before and the hotplate is a very useful size.

YEP......The Q320 Hotplate is a definate Winner and great value for money :D

Davo,

Made your bell pepper ringed fried eggs this weekend. Thanks for the tip. The wife loved them.

Yeah they're not bad.....in the Australian Weber Q cook book, is where i got the idea from and used it a few times, they showed using 3 colours of Capsicum peppers, green, yellow & red which incidently is the colour of traffic lights....but anyway, by using them as eggrings...nothing is wasted and is a bit of a novelty if you want to introduce kids to these kinds of peppers.

Glad ya liked them YankQ :D
