TRAEGER electronic control

Postby Commander Cody » Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:25 pm

yep,

gone and' dun it...........

my son came up from the big stink.........(melbourne)........... and saw the TRAEGER, he has not seen it before. he thought is was mmmmmmmmmmmmmcool. then, i showed him the electronic control for the thing and he went straight to the garage to see if my 750 bonny and 850 commando were still there..........  ...

bloody 'ell i tells ya.........he thought i had traded my beloveds for a gold wing............

so i sat him down with a brew or two and explained to 'im................. that up 'ere in the fridged zone firing up GORDY or the WSM or the IMPERIAL at 5am in winter is just not on....so therefore the TRAEGER is the perfect choice. but, the temps up 'ere as i constantly cry are brass monkey stuff. so i needed to have a little more control over the fire........just like some people use the maverick.....

while he finished off our tucker on the Q, i had another look at this device and came to the blind relization that something was amiss....or wrong. there was no temp probe..........how the wassisissy can you control the temp without the probe...  ...so i e-mailed them, and they are sending me out the probe......

i will do some photos of the installation when the rest of the control arrives......promise

hey, Capt'

i have been reading some posts in the pellethead forums......i see you got the didgital control....... 8)

questions,

is it easy to install..??..
do you have more control..??..
and what "P" settings do you use for smoke..??..

i have the new control, i think from reading the threads, some of the older ones had a run on time of 15 seconds.....does yours do this..??..

just waiting for the temp probe to arrive and i on my way.... :)

I think you will enjoy the even finer temperature you are gonna see with it. The higher the P setting the longer the interval between pellet drop. They say you should not go above 4 but they put 9 setting on it, fricken Yanks...The colder the ambient temperature is the more carful you want to be on going above about 5 I think...Pretty sure you are gonna dig it! Clean the tempearture probe every 5-6 cooks with a Brillo pad and the readings shold stay pretty good for you!

Enjoy!
