Hi Nath,
The weber lid fits over the top of the ring no problem.
Opening up the bottom obviously slightly distorts the whole thing but it works...
I have no doubt that the original kettle Pizza is a better product but for $20 and a ten minute tinker this is pretty good...

Yer agreed, can't justify the cost of a kettle pizza, this is worth it, I'll keep my eye out at my local and pick one up if there $20.Yamapro wrote:Hi Nath,

I'd be up for one if they come down around the $20 mark. Anyone in the West seen them discounted anywhere?

Even at $20 I'm thinking do I actually need it?
The kamado does good pizza.
I was thinking of using it as a roti ring. But I gather the large opening in the front would hinder my temp control

Re: Pizzeria by Smash Kettle Pizza attachment
HI all,
I joined this forum recently after having discovered this place in a Google search on the Pizzeria.
I've used this a couple of times now with my Weber (One Touch gold US import).
Whilst it didn't fit perfectly, I'm not sure the bad fit was too critical. I mostly had an OK time of it, although the pizza stone did most of the work I reckon.
I was thinking that in my case, I could have improved the situation with some decent lump charcoal. I was using Heatbeads, which did a great job at keeping the heat steady and constant, but 250-300C was the most I could get on the temp gauge. I am guessing (?) a decent lump charcoal would have pushed those temps to a much more acceptable range.
Do you think the imperfect fit could contribute to the sub-optimal temps too?

Hi Niko, I doubt it'd make much of a difference to the temps. There is a big opening in the front anyway. Charcoal would help, but I'd also try a nice log. Build the fire at the back of the kettle with a log on top. Cook the pizza near the exit and turn it frequently with a pizza paddle. Ideally try to have no (or minimal) fire under the pizza stone (perhaps deflect the heat to the back so that it rises and hits the top of the pizza).niko123456 wrote:Do you think the imperfect fit could contribute to the sub-optimal temps too?
One warning though: if there is a chance of the thing falling off the kettle it could turn into a disaster.

Re: Pizzeria by Smash Kettle Pizza attachment
Stack your fire up to the back, use Charcoal, its hotter than beads! Also throw bits of wood on, that's hotter again, but the fire to the back will give you the heat you need coming over the top.

I dunno where you guys are getting them so cheap. The Bunnings near home were all $40+ for them prior to Xmas, which is fine if they fit, but a bit much if you have to modify them.
I've went away on holidays over C/NY and checked out a few more big boxes, but the only Bunnings on the NSW mid north coast that had them in store was Forster, and they still wanted $50 each for them. Some Bunnings don't even carry them.

Weber Kettle Fanatic....
Main go-to: Blue 57cm OTG
Fire restriction option: Black 57cm M/T butchered with a Weber gas conversion.
GMG DC for the lazy smoky cooks.
Weeknight special: Q200
Problem? What problem?

First ever run went pretty well...
Toppings may have been a little overloaded (Mrs was a little excited) but did 4 pizzas in a sesh and each one got better...
Ended up putting the stone on invertrd charcoal baskets to get it up a little higher to the lid
