Replacement Thermometer Probes?

Hi Folks,

I have been using a BB Q Chef (BBQ's Galore brand, I believe) remote digital thermometer for a few years now, but unfortunately, it appears that the wire in the probe is broken.

Does anyone know the best place to get replacement probes? I went into BBQ's Galore today and the only probes they had were Maverick @ $39 each. For that price, I might as well find a new thermometer!

While talking new thermometers, I would like to also get a dual temp setup, to measure the Grate and the food at the same time. Without breaking the bank, what is a good recommendation?

Cheers

check out the weber dual probe unit @ $99 rr for a starting point, yes there are cheaper units out there :)
like your or original (single probe) unit, but they sometimes break and you end up spending double the price anyway.

Looks likes a Maverick specially made for stores like BBQG.

It looks really good for the price.

Maverick is a good brand.

The later models have fancier features such as bluetooth so they sync with your mobile. The new features are good but you then rely on the apps being up to date, using your mobile and if you have dirty hands it gets all greasy.

Thank.

I bought a HD-377 last weekend and tried it on a pork belly. Seemed to work fine. It didn't drop out and I didn't need to rely on flaky bluetooth. I'm happy enough with the buy for now.

Cheers

A number of people found out the range for Bluetooth remote thermometers to be as short as 10 meters which is not very good and affected by things like microwave ovens.

Quite a few people had their Maverick wireless remotes up to 300 meters away from the base station.

When you're doing a low and slow in the middle of the night there is nothing worse than getting woken up by the alarm due to loss connection.

I've been happy with the mavericks...
DONT OVERHEAT them... I busted a fair number of the probes!
And yeah probes can be ordered (in the states)
