Vacuum sealers
Re: Vacuum sealers
Not sure what you have avaiable...I had 4 different FoodSavers over 8 years...They would last about 2 years and then kaput, no matter how expensive. Finally got tired of spending the money and got a Cabelas CG-15, a lot of mony for me, but almost 3 years in, no worries and I doubt I will ever have to buy another.

Re: Vacuum sealers
Yeh, well i just got my first one and have been using it to no end thus far.
Its an Italian made job http://www.aussiebbq.info/forum/viewtop ... =16&t=4332 and comes with a full 5 year waranty. It was expensive at $300 but, the outlay over 5 years isnt much. That said, i am hoping it will still be going strong after the 5 years.
My advice to beachBums is get one, you wont regret it.

Don't argue with idiots.. They'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Re: Vacuum sealers
Hello, what kind of food sealers can you recommend? At my work we have a vacuum chamber (Minerva I think) but I really can't afford a vacuum-chamber at home, so I have to settle with a sealer. Hope you can help me, so that I can start sous vide'ing at home!
Thanks,
Kyle

Re: Vacuum sealers
It depends. Quite a number of people find the cheap ones on eBay are fine. Others wait for when Aldi sells them.
Others prefer the name brands such as Sunbeam etc.

We've had a Sunbeam and, now, the Aldi one and other than a slight difference in build quality in favour of the Sunbeam I think the Aldi unit is more versatile and a whole lot cheaper! Especially when you find the bags on special as well.
We only got the Aldi one because the original Sunbeam we got was the narrower one and bags were hard to find. I would avoid this one (30cm from memory).

Re: Vacuum sealers
Haha I was thinking of getting an Aldi vac sealer...
Do they have the bags for sale often (or can you use any vac bags?).
Tx, Paul
