I used to make lots of passata with my mum and dad
They had a tomato machine
Cheap and last for more than 20 years so far.
Wash tomatoes core them and halve them
Put them in a pot to soften add a bit of salt
When soft run them through the machine a few times
The red is in the skins
Discard skin and seed
Bottle with one basil leaf per bottle
Boil until sealed in sterilised bottles.
They keep for years
