Re: H Twins

Cheers Captain! Would never have happened without the enthusiasm of yourself and all the other smokaholics round these parts! Which reminds me i am waaaaaaay overdue to join the ABBQA... Hi titch, the spuds are always a winner - I usually do 'em with duckfat (also thanks to this forum) but this wasn...

H Twins

Well my sickness has completely taken over! It all started when I discovered this place when looking for a new gasser and on the forums advice bought a Weber Q... and a bunch of accessories. As i discovered the real joys of cooking outdoors I hung around a little more and was convinced that live fir...

Reverse Seared Kettle Steak

Well after going thru the journey every man travels at some point in time from thinking he is the steak king to learning how little one actually knows about the black art of char grilling (so to speak), I have been experimenting with better and better char grilled steak methods since discovering thi...

Re: Which BBQ Rangehood?

Hi Bundy, I am also considering putting up a range hood in my BBQ zone. Sadly i have no advice to offer you but am interested to see how this thread develops...\ If it is installed undercover but Alfresco do I need to be looking at a BBQ rangehood and not just a regular canopy rangehood? I'm hoping ...

Re: Smokey Joe vs Go-Anywhere

I only have the GA and it suits my needs perfectly... I was torn trying to decide for the longest time and don't believe you will go too far wrong with either. For me in the end it came down to the fact i already have a full size kettle and was keen on a hibachi style grill. As a portable i figured ...

Re: weber q - has it changed much

Hi Brownbag,

I dont believe there have been any significant changes to the Q range at all.

The only advice i would give you, would be to try and source the premium models (ie 220 over 200) if at all possible. Having electronic ignition, the higher lid and inbuilt thermometer are really handy.

Re: New Q220 First Use - Perfect Thank You All

Congrats Mark, The Q's are just so easy - i was like you, unsure about entertaining with it the first time, having bought the Weber Q on recommendation, it still seemed a traditional Gasser made more sense... Of course, all it took was that first cook :D Be careful spending too long around here thou...

Re: Cheap Weber compact

Spend the money on a second hand proper kettle instead! As the good Cap'n says the compact is shallower so less friendly for roasting, built down to a price with thinner metal (is it even enamelled?) and has bolt thru attachments instead of nice solid welds... No hinged grills etc etc... Also I beli...

Re: Weber Kettles

You don't get better value than a freebie! I cooked a really tasty roast duck Xmas day on the sister in laws cheap 'n' nasty kettle - pretty sure it's the same one Stratco and Bunnies sell around $60-$70... At the end of the day any kettle will cook like a kettle (although the 'compact's shape is a ...

Re: Weber Kettles

Hi Spit Roaster, The deep dish looking kettles are the original/traditional kettles, known today as the One Touch series (silver or gold). This is the one you want! The shallow ones are the 'compact' model and don't have the one touch cleaning system - ie PITA! It also comes with a 5 year not 10 yea...

Re: Webber Roasting Trivet

Good Call Austy! There are definitely cheaper alternatives - i started out on a cake cooling rack i stole from the Missus! After 2 cooks i ponied up and bought the Trivet - and it has been getting hammered ever since... Sturdy, easy to clean - couldn't even tell you what i paid for it now so it must...

Re: WSM or ProQ Frontier?

Hi Spit Roaster, Apparently the ProQ's are still rare as hens teeth in Aus. From what I can gather the 2 links i posted are the only guys with these in stock in Aus & they aren't 'official distributor' stock - so potentially warranty issues there? I'm hoping to hear soon that there will be an of...

Re: What do you suggest as first Weber cookout?

Ask 100 people you'll probably get 100 different answers! ;) If you have 'The Bible' their 'best ever roast lamb (Greek style)' Is pretty easy to prep, easy to cook and tastes delish! That was my first roast on the kettle (think i had grilled some steaks and kebabs first though) and i had the whole ...
