Re: WSM v Weber Kettle
Hi NewtoQue, welcome to the forum. As always, Davo is pretty spot on with his reply You can fiddle around a bit with the WSM and roast at a lower temp, however because of the diameter of it, if you take the water pan out you end up with direct heat from the fire which is not conjusive to roasting. T...

Re: Probably another what bbq thread?
Hi Ironmcl and welcome to the forum. Yours is a dilema shared by many. On this forum and many others there is a high percentage of Weber owners, (including me) so therefore they sing the praises of Weber very highly. My advise is to look at what your budget can afford, look at what will fit in the a...

Re: G'day
Welcome, A metho smoker is a hot fish smoker, generally You hot smoke the fish for 12 minutes. The metho burner normally burns for that length of time. This was the system that biased my tool box smoker on many yeas ago. It is still going strong. Placing it over a portable camping burner is the best...

Congradulations Steve. Thank you for putting your hand up. Davo needs help and a break. I promise that I won't play up and will be good. I don't get here very often as I spend most of my time on the Aussie Cue forum.

Re: Versatility of smaller units?
G'Day Beginner. Interesting question. I own 2 pellet BBQs, 4 Charcoal BBQs and 3 Gas BBQs, each has its own purpose. My most used is either my Q220 or my Weber Genesis. Pellet grills are good for some things like low and slow, at high heat you tend not to get a smoky flavour. They are great for maki...

Same timingMrBBQ wrote:Yup, I do have the book. Looks like I am trying to complicate the best way to do it
Even easier!
So that timing mentioned is for a 5-6kg piece in the book.
Mine is roughly 4.5kg... Same timing still applies?

Re: Another noob with an xmas ham ;)
Page 79 of the Weber Bible (The Complete Australian Barbecue Kettle Cookbook) That is the best that I have come across for a simple Baked Ham. The book says 3 1/2 hours cooking time plan on 4 1/2 (you can always keep it hot, foil wrapped in an esky with a couple of old towels over it. It is best to ...

Re: Weber Baby Q frame MELTS to the ground
My setup is a doubled over sheet of foil, trivet, foil tray with a roasting rack inside the tray and then the pork. To prepare the pork, I pour boiling water over the pork rind and pat it dry then I rub it with canola or vegetable oil and then salt the rind. I never have fires and get perfect result...

Re: Replacing the Q300?
Ah sorry it is actually the 320 I have, with the high lid and the gauge. This is interesting though as I had thought Qs were known for not being able to reach high temps? What sort of temps would I expect to get a properly working Qs grate to? When I was demonstrating for Weber a few years ago (I d...

Re: Replacing the Q300?
Hi Beginner You have a problem with your Q temps. Unforunately the Q300 does not have a Temp Gauge. You need the services of a Weber Technician to fault diagnose the problem. There are a small amout of Qs that have this problem and it can be caused by a variety of things, thats why I say youi need a...

Davo You have done a great job trying to hold this forum together through all the adversity. The unfortrunate thig is that PAULR doesnt appear to give a toss about the forum, he has fallen way behind with the behind the scenes admin and hasnt posted on the forum since the 20 April. Re: Matador Boss - opinions, alternatives please?
Ogre All gas BBQs work otherwise he hey wouldn't be sold. The cheapest price usually means the cheapest quality, however the dearest doesn't mean the best quality. I am a Weber Addict through and through, but that is my personal preference, I have my reasons which may or not be shared by others. I d...
